Non Starter after Engine Out and Clutch Change

Just put everything back after having the engine out to fit a new clutch. Now car won't start. Looking at some of the other non-start posts on this board I've run a few tests and proved the following. -Engine is turning over. Voltage on battery 12.7V so battery is good. -You hear the usual buzz from the engine bay when you switch on the ignition (the fuel relay?) -When you push the valve on the end of the injector rail you get fuel spray out at pressure -Injector plugs are all connected -Spark plugs are all dry -If I do a compression test with RPM sensor disconnected (as per Haynes) and all plugs removed engine pressure isn't building when I turn the car over. -"Camshaft Position sensor signal absent" error 3-4-1 logged on code reader and don't seem to be able to delete it. Given the above I think the most likely problem is a bad connection to the Camshaft Position Sensor after connection/disconnection. 1) Is there an easy way to test the sensor itself and also the wiring back to the ECU ? Haynes doesn't give wiring diagrams for this. 2) How do I test for a spark at the plugs ? 3) Any other ideas ? Would appreciate any thoughts on the above as i'm truly stuck!

Measure the impedance of the CPS. It should be below 100ohms or there abouts. Double check the wiring to it as it may have been broken in the engine removal. This is highly likely why your engine is not starting as the spark will be cut-off if no CPS signal does not reach the ECU.

My da's 850 was hell for this, gave that same code, and would happen after starting the car and moving it a short distance, so to a different spot on the driveway, testing found no spark and no compression, tried numourous cures, but to no avail, eventually it would start on the starter or with a tow, mostly when towed a short distance, but 1 time it was towed nearly 3 miles in 4th gear before it started.
