School's about to start and I'm wanting to pickup an Axiom 49 for my Music Classes (Piano, Composition, etc.) - in the process I'm also wanting to go ahead and license Reaper and get away from paying for all the Sonar Updates. How compatible is the Axiom 49 with Reaper? I mean, can I take full advantage of all the buttons, sliders, transport control, etc. I DON'T mind taking some initial time to setup the programming (provided I don't have to do it EVERYTIME I load Reaper). I have the nanoDevices and I can use the button/slider controller as well as the controllers on the keyboard itself if need be. Thanks! :)
I have an axiom 49 and it works very well with Reaper. The Enigma software that works with the Axiom takes a little getting used to, but it all works flawlessly. I'm a little disappointed in the sliders on the Axiom and Reaper though. I would like to use the sliders to mix more than eight tracks at a time and unfortunately I don't have an way to do that. If you're satisfied with using the sliders as faders on only the first eight tracks then you'll be fine. I'm not disappointed with my Axiom purchase. Short term goals: learn how to use the rotary encoders as "endless" encoders so they can work on whatever track currently has focus. Also, using the Axiom with a Hammond VST so the sliders can be used as "drawbars"
If you want to use all eight encoders as CC#147 (the one that works well) you'll need to set each to a different midi channel. Evidently, channel 0 and 1 both show up as channel 1 in Reaper. Set the encoders to midi channels 1-8 and then you should be able to map them to different Reaper actions. I have my first two encoder wheels set to volume and pan.
------------------------------------- GO DAWGS!!!!
OK - well, I made the plunge... I paid for Reaper and I have the Keyboard and power supply ordered from Sweetwater so hopefully the madness will start by the end of the week. :)
OK here's a start! B1 - Track Vol B2 - Track Pan B3 - Zoom Horizontally B4 - Zoom Verically (I'm using Relative 1 for this one only) B5 - Go To Next Track B6 - Go To Previous Track B7 - Scroll Vertically B8 - ??? This is actually really nice, it's just a shame having to use two knobs for up/down Track selection. Now what to do with that eighth knob.....?
I used the following thread to get my nanoKontrol working with Reaper so my individual tracks are covered: Now, is there a way, on the Axiom, to control the MASTER Volume with a slider and the Pan with a Rotary? Thanks! :)
Hey guys, every axiom that i tried had the sticky keys problem and as far as i can tell they all have it , even the pro version. Some people dont seem to notice it, or it might be a recent problem. M-audio are not acknowledging it other than "they will look into it" (6 months ago)I took mine back and got and edirol. the company have NOT offered a solution If you want to play softly it will drive you nuts. Just be aware of the problem if you are buying on line.
