thanks for your reply, i think i'm going to move to the mbox 2 also, as long as it will work with the converters and i'm not going to be restricted in any way with PT 7.
Hi, cool. i want to be able to get more processing - i would upgrade just for this, but their are a lot of other features in PT 7 that seem really cool to me. don't get me wrong, i love my 001, but i'm just not getting the processing that i need. what features do you feel become downgraded, besides i/o. thanks for posting.
hi jms, thanks again. i've had the 001 for about five years also, and i can honestly say that, i took advantage of the i/o only one time, when i recorded a band. however, the rest of my work has always been done with two channels. i just don't want to have all these extra features that i don't use, it just doesn't make sense to me. but i do love the stability that i have, my system runs next to flawless. my only worry is changing to something new, cause i'll expect the new stuff to work just as good as what i have now - as far as being almost problem free. like i mentioned before, if i can get a nice sounding signal into pro tools w/ my great river pre and mytek converters, and have enough power to use soft synths (reason) and plugins, than i'll be happy w/ mbox 2.
Do you really see that much in the new software that you want? If it were me, I would take the money you are planning to use on the mbox and put that into more gear or plugins. If you are using seperate pre's/converters/etc. the only benefit of the mbox is the new versions of protools. You will get more of an improvement putting that money into ram for your computer or upgrading the processor than going to the mbox.
