Media Offline Issue

Hello everyone, I was using v3.61 and noticed that when REAPER main window is inactive (I switch to another app, say Firefox or Windows Explorer), all my audio media items become offline. I checked my REAPER audio preference settings and the following are unchecked (disabled): - Close audio device when stopped and application is inactive - Close audio device when is inactive and Rewire devices are open - Close audio device when stopped and active (less responsive) I upgraded to latest version, v3.63, and seems to be the same issue. Does anybody experience or can confirm this? Or maybe, I'm missing something here. I remember this was working before, probably on v3.5x. I appreciate any help. Thanks, -KT

Well yes, that's the expected behaviour. Media files are set to offline once the Reaper window loses focus, file locks are removed, so you could theoretically edit a file with an external editor. Doesn't really hurt you in the slightest, does it ? ;-)

Thanks fuseburn! That makes sense. The reason I asked about 'Media Offline' behavior is because I started using REAPER playing backing tracks with a band playing live. I use Line6 POD X3 Live as a sound card for REAPER and mapped the X3 Live Tap button switch to REAPER's transport play button. This works great but the problem is when I switch to GearBox application (software to control POD X3 Live pedal) to tweak my sound, when I step on the Tap button on X3, REAPER project will play but to backing track sound because the media items are now offline. Hope this makes sense. I also tried downgrading to REAPER 3.52 and the same behavior so I guess this has been the behavior since I started using it. Anybody know if there is any setting/configuration so that media items will not go offline when REAPER loses focus? Thanks!
