Midi timing and latency

MessageAuthor

I had the same type of problem. I think the answer you are looking for is the nudge function. Basically it helps you line up the midi notes with the grid. I hope that helps!

sorry, i didn't read your whole post. seems like you are aware of buffer settings. still curious to know what it is set at though. once i quantize all of my midi tracks and send it out to td20 and rerecord the tracks(as audio) everything works out fine. beat detective is always another option

RE: Midi timing and latency

thanks guys for the look, jas thats what ive been using to adjust the audio, just give er a little nudge. x9 as for my buffer i assume you mean the midioffset? ive been using about -150 i think to adjust for the delay and it seems to get it close. It all just seems to get ugly about an hour in the session, with some basic guitar, drum, keys, scratch vocals and youve been adjusting the playback buffer from 64 to 1024 to add plugins, only to end up making tracks inactive, because your pc is out of ram, then you can go back fix the mididrum tracks, then playing to the click which has latency(so now i record it as audio and line it up on the grid) and before ya know it aaaaargh!!! the feel and timing is off!! so now it appears the answer is.... GET THE MIDIDRUMS TO AUDIO!!! ASAP, as well as get the click to audio so the timing doesnt change when you adjust the buffers.....make sense?? do you guys use a different process for laying down your drum parts??? thanks!! -e-
