Recommended EZ Drummer2 settings for reggae?

MessageAuthor

I don't have the Reggae EZX add-on for EZ Drummer2, but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for getting a reggae drum sound out of EZ Drummer2 and Reaper?

I've gotten great results in Addictive Drums using any dry kit, even a jazz kit but use sticks instead of brushes. I'd actually avoid too much reverb and delay unless you are specifically doing dub stuff. Here are 4 reggae (and one ska) instrumentals. The last one is heavy dub style. 2 are classic reggae, and 1 is ska. The dub tune is the only one that I did not use Addictive Drums. The instrumentals have vocals removed for various reasons. Ha ha I have used EZ Drummer before, and I could definitely get similar sounds from it.

Thanks for the feedback, and sorry I should have been more specific re. what sort of style I was looking for. I guess in the back of my mind I had early 70s Wailers. So the sort of thing that would've been played on an acoustic kit rather than electronic. The tip re. favouring rimshots over snare is a particularly useful one - thanks. I listened to your samples richie43 - they were also really useful - thanks.
