I've been pushing mine pretty hard for the past couple hours, and it's right at 54 C at the moment. A little hotter than I'd really like, but well within AMD's specs.

Oh, BTW, I have a Coolermaster CPU fan (on an 1800 CPU) and a single case fan too.

RE: Re: ATHLON XP TEMP

Hi, There was some really interesting info on one of the Redhat Linux refletors a few months ago about CPU temp and monitoring of them. Turns out that the way the thermometer is mounted to the chip can cause a +/- 10-15 degree C change in the reading. You might be at 55C, or 40C, or 70C. You won't really know. One of the ladies in the office here asked me yesterday why her PC was making this funny noise. I walk into her office and hear an alarm signal coming from the PC speaker. After poking around for a minute or two I looked at the CPU temp. The poor old P3 was running at 107C! Hey, let's boil water and make some coffee! I replaced the dieing fan, and the temp was 57C, but the P3 is still working. We'll see for how long! Cheers, Mark
