First thing I noticed is that the bug when seeking (XVID/MKV) was not fixed. Like version 0.8.4, it doesn't render properly after seeking (to non-I frames?). Little details like that make MPC/ffdshow hard to beat as my preferred general use player.
Still no letterboxing for subtitles :-( Subtitles support is the weakest part of VLC IMHO. Everything else works great for me. I'm staying with ViPlay or MPC and FFDshow.

Ya, if VLC had BSPlayer's style of handling subtitles this would be...great. The other thing is rtsp rm files. Anywho, all in all it's a great software and it's only 0.8.5
