Settings not carried over from DIF4U to Reauthorist?

MessageAuthor

Hello all, I am trying for the first time to use the big 3 to shirnk a dvd. Since I am away from my computer for 20 hours at a time, might as well let it do more passes then 3/5 (currently have it at 5/7), but I noticed these settings do not carry over from DIF4U to Reauthorist. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong, or if there is some sort of bug? If it is some sort of bug, what other settings do not carry over? Also, is there any way to explicitly mark certain tracks in DIF4U as being part of the main title, rather then using the "withing x megs of the largest vob" method? There are certain extras that I do want at the full bitrate, but having to change this explicitly in ReAuthorist (as well as the pass thing) means I can't have ReAuthorist automatically start encoding after DIF4U finishes. -Chu

Regarding the issue with number of passes, you can specify the number in Reauthorist instead.

You can also have doitfast4u output to docc4u. I know for sure that the number of passes is correctly used there (otherwise check the created ccedata.txt to see what parameters are used there). Right now there's not an option that can set different bitrates for different extras (would be nice though). The only thing you can set in your settings is an option that if a titleset is within a certain number of mbs of the main titleset this titleset will also be treated as the main movie. (Global options, other optios, flag as main all vts....)So you could use this option if your extra that you want to be encoded at the same bitrate is bigger then all your other extras. Maybe an example is clearer: main titleset 4 GB Extra 1 1GB extra 2 500 MB You want to encode extra 1 at the same bitrate as the main movie. If you set the option to 3 GB (any extra that's 'only' 3 GB smaller then the main title gets treated as being a main titleset as well) it should work as you want it. But it will not work if: main titleset 4 GB Extra 1 500 MB extra 2 1 GB You want extra 1 to be encoded at the same bitrate as the main movie again. You should set the option to 3,5 gb in this case which would mean that also extra 2 would get encoded at the same bitrate. Hope this is clear and helps out a little bit.

I just started a new encode, and the pass settings def. do not carry over on my system :( Considering my last encode faled at the scenarist stage (see other thread), I am wondering if any other settings might also have not been carried over correctly. If the pass setting really is carrying over correctly for most people, what could be wrong? -Chu

The pass settings do not carry over bud. I suggested this to the author but he wanted to use his own settings, and since that doesn't seem to make much difference, I didn't mind. Not that if I had minded it would have made a difference, after all it is his app. I did suggest to give the users a choice, but that didn't happen. I do plan to add the ability to mark any VTS as main very soon in DIF4U, I'm just trying to figure out the best way to do this in the UI.

That's funny. I must have chosen the same settings by coincidence then :p

Well they are carried over to DoCCE4U if you select that route, but not to RA. Guess I should have clarified. Your posting about settings using DIF4U->DoCCE4U was in fact true.

o, ok. I already thought of buying a lottery ticket with that much luck :sly: I always use that route and use RA afterwards if I have a title that can be done by pgc. WOrks all the time

You know, on all these replies, whenever I saw DoCCE4U, I mentally was thinking ReAuthorist:p The replies make a lot more sense now that I am actuially reading it right. Thanks for the nfo. -Chu
