monitoring phase

MessageAuthor

I'm getting a phasey sound when I monitor what I'm recording through cans. Where do I start looking to get rid of it?

It might be something to do with latency, In preferences > audio > devices to set up your soundcard? Hey there's some great tutorials in the Q&A section by Johnnie Ginese They're very good, take a look.:)

Well, I just recorded something in Reaper, so the interface is working. I'll check out the thing you linked to - thanks very much.

RE: monitoring phase

Nah, this isn't working. I recorded tonight. Guitar in to the metronome was okay, but when it came time for the vocals, I had the headphones on one ear only so that I could sorta hear what I was singing through all the phasiness. I checked out Ginese's lesson on latency, and he talks about ASIO4ALL, but my interface has its own ASIO, so that doesn't work for me. I think I'll post this problem in the general forum if you don't mind - maybe somebody there has had the same issue.

Damn. When in doubt, RTFM. Turn off input monitoring when your USB or Firewire interface has zero latency monitoring built in. Duh. Done. Thanks again.
