95 sample latency with 002r

From the Digidesign Answerbase: 95 sample latency when recording into Pro Tools via Digi 002R. Tracks are actually placed 95 samples late. Digi 002R record latency compensation is incorrect This is a known issue with Pro Tools LE and the Digi 002. ID:29152 Created:01/31/2005 I understand from other sources that 95 samples is about 2 miliseconds. Have any 002r users experienced audio recording anomalies because of this, or is it unnoticeable to you? I ask as I've not yet had delivery of my 002r.

RE: 95 sample latency with 002r

If everything is recorded 95 samples late..... Then it should all be 95 samples late when you play it back. Shouldn't be a latency problem. Now if you are monitoring from PT and dubing a track there are issues there. You can test this latency by patching a signal analog out and then back in to record on a different track. It should be about 50 to 90 samples late. Depends on the interface. My ADAT take about 90 samples at 44.1 /24. I use 6.4. I also tested this on 6.7 on a 002R same latency. Would be nice if PT compensated for this.

Typical Answerbase - no version number is mentioned. I'd guess Digidesign support isn't staffed by people with experience in the real software world. If/when this bug is fixed, the Answerbase entry will probably continue to mislead people for years. 2ms is a very small delay, roughly equivalent to listening to speakers at a 2 foot distance. But if the error is always 95 samples, the actual time in milliseconds will depend on the sample frequency.
