Transport control in midi editor

MessageAuthor

This has probably been asked before, but I am an idiot and haven't found it after going through tons of midi requests/comments. My question: is there a way of controlling playback in the midi editor beyond start/stop/return? I really REALLY need to be able to scroll fw/bw and jump to markers without having to click outside the midi editor window all the time. This might be a FR but it seems unlikely that this hasn't been requested before...

This is actually quite easy to do... To move in the MIDI editor is the same as the arrangement window: Left arrow moves left a bit * Action: View: Move Cursor Left Right arrow moves right a bit * Action: View: Move Cursor Right As far as the Markers...this will need to be a Feature Request, but I am very surprised that this is not in existence already.

Wow. I can't believe I missed that somehow... but maybe I should elaborate a bit. I use a Contour Shuttle jogwheel for scrolling, which works fine in Track view, but not in the midi editor. It uses a macro to repetitively send certain key commands to Reaper (in this case fast forward/rewind). I understand that there are two speeds for scrolling in Reaper, so perhaps I should program the "slower" scrolling with the arrow keys to my Contour's outer wheel. I'll give that a go tonight I think! Thanks for your help so far. Posting in FR now...

Well, using the arrow keys (without ctrl) does work, but when I stop scolling, playback will still start from the original position and not the position I just scrolled to. Seems like the editor syncs to the arrangement window, but not the other way around. Am I missing something here?

As far as where it syncs to: If the editor is in sync mode that is true (they will follow each other, obviously). If the editor is not synced it seems to only sync when you start the transport via either the main transport or with the arrangement window in focus. As far as ending where you stop, that is not how stop works, but how pause works with play...although Enter (the usual pause) does not seem to work in the MIDI editor.
