How to automate grouped parameters with envelopes..?

MessageAuthor

I am a bit confused here: I set up a simple 'parameter group' - I've got some clean bass guitar on one track, and some fuzz bass guitar on another track, and I put their track volumes in a Group, one the master and one the slave, with a reverse volume relationship - so now the volume on my clean channel is effectively a "wet/dry" fader - if I turn the clean one up, the fuzz one goes down, and if I turn the clean one down, the fuzz one goes up. However, this doesn't seem to happen if I put a (post FX) volume envelope onto the clean channel :( Am I doing something wrong?

I'm not real sure but I believe you have to make one of the group a master.

yeah, I did already! :) If I drag the faders themselves with the mouse, they move fine in their reciprocal relationship. But if I put an envelope in the track for the master fade, it just changes the level of the master, not the slave.

So far I couldn't figure out either why that doesn't work when you draw an envelope on the master group track with the mouse. However, it works if you master/slave the automation mode, set the automation mode to a write mode and use the fader to draw your envelope(s) - the slave track will follow and draw a reciprocal envelope then. <Shrug> :)

Aha - I didn't get round to trying that yet, although I hoped it might work. As it happens, I've finished mixing the track in question now, just making do with manual envelope edits! But for future - if I drew in a rough curve in 'write' mode, can I switch back to trim/edit and fine tune the curve, and it'll still work?
