RE: mp3 vbr from divx to wav problems...

I have a divx film with mp3 vbr which only plays audio and video sync in windows media player or winamp but not virtual dub. My question is how to extract the audio to wav getting the correct wav (tried decoding the mp3 from virtual dub, cooledit pro, soundforge 6 - each time with diffrent lenghts (shorter than the original length of the sound track). As it seems it only plays in sync when using windows media player which uses directshow filter (Moonlight Odio Dekoda - comes with elcard).... Is there a way to use this directshow filter to decode the mp3 and then save it to wav??? Thanks in advance Nim

To answer your last question you could use Graphedit and add "WAV DEST" and "File Writer" and get the wav you wanted. Maybe an easier way7 if you haven't tried it yet is to open the clip in NanDub, which is ok with vbr mp3's, and then "File/Save wav". Then renamed the file from "filename.wav" to "filename.mp3" and you should have a mp3 which is in synch. hope this info helps. Good luck. Edge

Well, drag and drop the mp3 to graphedit and remove the "Directsound" filter. look some thing like this filename.mp3 ---> LAME MPEG Layer III Audio Decoder -----> Wav Dest -------> file writer.wav Doing this from memory so a bit hazy. Can't post a screenshot.....in work:mad: Edge

well tried the graph edit - still get the out of sync... By the way is i think the sync problem has something to do with the wav writing? or it may be due to the fact that when i play the file and check the video render properties i see that it changes the frame rate of the divx - and the frame rate seems variable? - if this is the case what do i do in order to rencode the avi - as if it has a correct constant frame rate (which is also compatible like 23.976,24,25...frames per second)? Thanks in advance Nim

Well the out of sync has to do only with the wav dest. tested that for sure. still no luck...

RE: mp3 vbr from divx to wav problems...

well i think the problem is to do with the interleaving of the audio with the video... I demuxed the mp3 file out then muxed it back in (without converting any formats) with nandub and got the out of sync again....so i gather that the problem is with the interleaving setting within the divx movie. So what still bugs me is that graph edit doesn't work.... Here is what i did: Movie input avi --> avi splitter (stream 1) --> MPEG Layer III Audio Decoder -----> Wav Dest -------> file writer.wav Any clues?
