SIMPLE and FREE way to transfer video from DV to PC

I just tested the Video DVD Maker I mentioned above (free version), and it appears that it can't deal with 16:9 video. Furthermore I wasn't convinced of its stability, because the program decided to hang several times... bb

Here is a nice guide use winDV and grab a large avi file to your computer. After that use the guide on the webpage. Skip the parts: =2= Capturing video with VirtualDub and =7= Authoring the DVD For menues you use DVDStyler. I hope this helps you.
